Modern Explanations

In modern cosmology, one of the most influential theories is the Big Bang Theory, which posits that the universe originated from an extremely dense and hot singularity that expanded in a massive explosion approximately 14 billion years ago.

In 1927, Belgian astronomer and cosmologist Georges Lemaître first proposed the Big Bang hypothesis. In 1929, American astronomer Edwin Hubble, building on this idea, discovered that the redshift of galaxies is proportional to their distance, leading to Hubble’s Law and the concept of an expanding universe. In 1946, American physicist George Gamow formally proposed the Big Bang Theory, suggesting that the universe was formed from a massive explosion approximately 14 billion years ago.
